Right Down the Line

Gerry Rafferty es un Cantautor Escoces, cuyas influencias principales vienen de Bob Dylan. Comenzo con un Folk Pop suave, y grabo su primer trabajo como solista, bajo el titulo "Can i have my money back?" en 1971.
Tras este trabajo, forma un grupo junto a Joe Egan, llamado "Stealers Wheel". Este grupo tiene una trayectoria bastante exitosa, especialmente con la canción "Stuck in the Middle with you". (Años mas adelante, en 1992, el director de cine Quentin Tarantino, utiliza esta canción en la pelicula Perros de la Calle, en la escena en que el señor Rubio le corta la oreja al policia).
Despues de este periodo, en el año 1978 vuelve como solista y graba su album mas exitoso, City to City. Este es un trabajo totalmente "Soft Pop", que tiene un reconocimiento pleno por parte del publico y llega al N° 1 en el billboard estadounidense.
Aca esta el mas grande hit de Rafferty, la canción "Baker Street", en el cual esta asistido en el saxo por Raphael Ravenscfroft. Ademas de Ravenscroft, Rafferty contó con la colaboración de Andy Fairweather-Low en guitarra (quien en esos años apoyaba a Pink Floyd como segunda guitarra, tanto en los conciertos como en las grabaciones de albums), Paul Jones y otros notables musicos de sesión.
Otro exito de City to City, es Right Down the Line. Es una hermosa balada en la que destaca la suave voz de Rafferty y el equilibrio instrumental, en el que cada instrumento tiene su espacio, logrando una armonia perfecta.
